PE and Sports
Here at Sandon, PE is valued and seen as an important and integral part of every child’s development.
School Games Mark
In December 2017, after a lot of hard work and determination, Sandon School was awarded the Gold Award School Games Mark!
This was awarded for our commitment to and development of competition, school sport, physical education and pupil activity.
We offer a broad and balanced curriculum where we deliver high quality PE lessons. Physical Activity is a major part of leading a healthy life and at Sandon we promote an Active School. We have a super outdoor environment with facilities for active play and keeping fit. Children are given the opportunity to be active at playtimes, lunchtimes, before and after school. We are grateful to our year 5 and 6 Sports Crew who organise activities for younger pupils. Our weekly Steps Challenge is a popular inter class competition.
In addition to PE lessons, other areas of the curriculum are also active and the introduction of Forest school lessons will also encourage physical activity. We are keen to promote family engagement and offer Family Fitness Fridays and weekly ‘Bags of Fun’ for each class.
Black shorts, red polo shirt/T shirt (no logo) and trainers are required for all PE activities plus a pair of black tracksuit bottoms for winter. These should be kept in a separate named PE bag.
Long hair should be tied back in lessons and no jewellery (watches, bracelets, necklaces, hooped or dangly earrings ) please.
