Family Bingo

FOSS held their first family bingo evening in the village hall on Saturday. It was a terrific evening filled with fun, food, prizes and plenty of laughs. The event was a sellout and raised a hugely impress figure which will pay for the school's Accelerated Reader scheme. Mr Musk had spent weeks preparing his bingo calls 'OFSTED are due - 82' and 'Forest School Den - 10'! Rowan said "It was beyond fantastic!", with Miss Morley adding "It was great to see so many families together having fun."

First Forest School Session

Today marked the start of a very exciting journey for us - it was our first ever Forest School session! Our two Forest School leaders, Mr Musk and Mr Allcorn, ran the session for all infants in our newly created sited. Children designed and developed their own base camp area as well as explored the area, using magnifiers to get to know the plants and animals.

Forest School Grounds Day

The weather was foul, but that didn't deter our fantastic volunteers from turning out to help prepare the school grounds for Forest School. We could never have imagined getting so much work done in one morning and it simply wouldn't have been possible without their help. Despite the bitter cold, rain and snow, we managed to complete the base camp area, build the shed and start the willow fedge. What an incredible achievement and all thanks to the terrific support of our parent volunteers!

Sandon Solar System

Thanks to a very generous parent, we now have an inflatable solar system in the hall! The scale model perfectly complements our creative curriculum 'Space' topic and has been quite the conversation piece during lunch and assemblies!

Robotics Day

The school was invaded by robots for the day as all children were given the opportunity to experience building and programming robots. In groups, children had free reign to design and build their robots in any way they liked. They then tested the robots using motion sensors that prevented them from colliding with other objects. "It was so cool. Our robot looked like a person!" said Timilehin. Mr Musk was pleased with the day stating "It was a fabulous opportunity for the children to develop their creative IT skills."
