Early Years Foundation Stage
“Look for the learning in their play, not the play in their learning.” Kirstine Beeley
The children have daily phonic and math activities which promotes the learning through games and fun challenges. The children also start to learn French through games, songs and classroom instructions.
Children have the opportunity to engage in adult led and child led activities throughout the day. A large amount of time is dedicated to child initiated learning where the children are free to explore both the inside and outside learning environments where they can seek and discover their own interests.
“The wider the range of possibilities we offer children, the more intense will be their motivations and the richer their experiences.” Loris Malaguzzi
Our Reception class follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework where the children are able to take the lead in their own learning within a stimulating and inspiring learning environment.
All 7 key areas of the framework have equal importance in our curriculum and we closely link all learning to the ‘Characteristics of Effective Learning’. Having up to 15 children in reception class allows the staff to effectively plan a unique learning experience for each child focusing on their interests and needs.
Fresh fruit, vegetables, milk and water are available throughout the day in our class at our rolling snack table. The children can access this when they feel thirsty and/or hungry. The children tidy up and wash their cups after they have finished.
